Oona Sera Designs was created October 2004 as a natural extension of the lifelong spiritual pursuits of founder Shannon Head. As a practitioner of Anusara yoga, Shannon recognized the need for a yoga bag that would be incredibly durable and that would also be in accord with the underlying principles of yoga: the design would need to come from the heart, and the materials and manufacturing would need to be procured fairly and honestly.

Fueled by the fire of yoga and an interest in textiles and design that stretches back to her earliest memories, Shannon decided to roll up her sleeves and make her own bag. In the process of assembling the prototype, she recognized she had a talent for the work.

The real fervor ignited in the following months when Shannon started taking her new bag to her yoga classes: people who saw it asked where they could get one like it. With that, Oona Sera was born.

As she went into production, a few clients requested larger bags, so Shannon extended her line to include tote and baby bags, which can carry a yoga mat, blocks and clothes. All Oona Sera bags are lined with Cordura water-repellent backpack material, so they can be turned inside out and sprayed off after a sweaty workout or yoga session.

Shannon's background in cultural anthropology and deep love for other cultures led her to travel the world extensively. As a result, she tends to use Japanese and other ethnic prints for the Oona Sera line, and has been lauded for her wide variety of gorgeous colors.

In addition, Oona Sera has recently partnered with Stellarocco Designs and now offers an exclusive line of bags featuring their distinctive prints, all of which have elements of both the nature inspired and Japanese prints. Oona Sera is based in Berkeley, CA, and is female owned and operated.

Shannon has found the practice of yoga to be revolutionary, at once inspiring and healing, and she wants to share this with the world. With a company name that signifies unity (Oona means One in Gaelic), Oona Sera Designs is committed to maintaining the highest quality products and will always employ only the kindest and fairest of business practices. And that's something you can count on.
